Hello All!
Tis I from the Air Force Academy in Colorado! I am currently wrapping up classes for the semester, and I wanted to share a few updates!
Every year students here have to take an aviation class, and I just finished mine based in a T-38 simulator. We were all the basics including level flight, climbs, descents, turns, and take offs and landings. Then at the end of the course we were allowed to fly the F22 in simulator! I had a great time pretending to be Maverick in the Grand Canyon! Unfortunately, the hours are not FAA approved, but it was a fun time!
In addition, I was able to fly over Thanksgiving Break! I will be continuing to flying over Winter break with the hope of getting my solo before I return here to the Academy.
Finally with flight, I am hoping to take another aviation course over the summer that covers the basics of powered flight! It will not be in a cessna, but I am hopeful that it will help me continue to get used to flying!
Now with music, A lot has happened! As a member of the drum and bugle corp I got to watch my band perform their tunnel show before the last two football games, and I finally understand the excitement! It was easily the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen and I loved watching the corp do their thing!
I have also recently joined orchestra here on flute and I’ve had the privilege of playing with the USAFA band (all active duty service professional musicians) at our recent holiday concert! It has been so much fun to play with such skilled musicians, and I look forward to doing so again tomorrow and this Tuesday! For those of you curious about what we played, We played the classic sleigh ride and a Christmas carol sing-along mix.
Thank you all so much for reading, and I look forward to updating you soon!
