Live Music at OSH

We are back! AirVenture 2022 was as normal as can be expected after what the world has been going through.

The FMA Open Mic/Jam hosted by the Ultralight folks was once again a successful gathering of pilot/musicians and live music fans. A huge thanks to John Vining, Josh & Becky Homet, and many others who assisted.

Hartzell Propeller once again donated to FMA in return for music at their Props & Hops gathering. John Vining did a wonderful job along with Kass Smith and others.

The Seaplane Pilots were very happy to donate this year too and were rewarded with live music performed by FMA members: Jeff Auen, Kass Smith, Sam Fritchle, and Doug Byrd.

US Sport Planes hosted a Jabiru owners gathering at their booth. Don Bilbrey along with Alex & Marti Whitmore performed. Thank you US Sport Planes for your donation.

To round out the week, JD (John Dyer) performed Taps at the Memorial Wall ceremony on Sunday. This is the forth time FMA was tapped to perform Taps live, however JD encouraged the EAA Aviation Foundation to donate to FMA and… they did. Thank you EAA! “All you have to do is ask.” – JD. Thank you JD!

In addition to the above, board member Dr. Ian Fries played his beautiful Hammond accordion at the Daher TBM booth during the noon hour each day.

The idea for years was to have a booth. With a booth we can get regular volunteers. We can also solicit donations for merchandise: shirt, mugs, hats, etc. All we need is a donation to seed the effort: equipment and material for the booth & the rental fee. EAA will discount the booth. If you believe this to be good for FMA and are willing to support it, whether by donating or volunteering, contact us and let us know. Now is time to get this ball rolling if we are to do it for AirVenture 2023.
