2024 FMA Solo Recipients

Join us in celebrating and congratulating Levi Schroeder, high school senior from Nebraska, and Thomas Ye, high school junior from Virginia as the two recipients of the Learn-to-Fly scholarship portion of the FMA Solo program. Levi and Thomas were selected out of sixty-seven nominees.

I plan to attend University of Nebraska in Kearney to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics with a minor in music. I’m looking forward to working on my private pilot certificate this month thanks to the Flying Musicians Association’s FMA Solo program.”

Receiving the 2024 Flying Musician Solo Program scholarship fills me with great excitement. It is a great honor to be acknowledged for all my years of dedication to my passions for music and aviation, and to have the chance to serve as an ambassador for the Flying Musicians Association (FMA) to spread awareness of these passions among the general public.

Thomas Ye

The FMA Solo program class of 2024 was filled with enthusiastic music students each with a true passion for aviation as well as music. We selected eleven nominees from sixty-seven students to compete for the Learn-to-Fly scholarship portion. All were assigned a mentor and onboarded as Flying Musician members. We believe each will find the association a tremendous resource throughout their academic and professional careers.

I have dreamed of becoming a pilot for all of my life, and this scholarship helps me complete my very first step into the aviation world. I wish the best of luck to the finalists and Thomas in both their aviation and music dreams!!
Thank you again to the association for this opportunity to not only complete my solo, but to also spread the gift of music and aviation to the next generation of pilots and musicians!!
