Lots of Flying Musicians will be at AirVenture 2023. Several changes this year. Many have asked why not move the open mic/jam to Friday? Done. Same location (Forum tent in Ultralight area) at time (8-10pm). Taking its place on Thursday evening will be the start of something new coordinated be member Mike Dewey. Mike will coordinate an Irish Trad session (more below).

Two notable musicians are unable to attend this year – John Vining (North Central Ambassador) and Gary Filip (Life Member). Both have been mainstays in supporting the association. Their contributions to FMA are unmeasurable and so instrumental in FMA’s success. We’ll miss the “piano men.” Next year we celebrate fifteen years. It is time for new folks to step up and attempt to fill their shoes albeit hopefully temporarily.

John Vining (North Central Ambassador), who has coordinated the Ultralight Open Mic/Jam for many years, has taken ill. Our hearts and prayers go out to both John and his wife Linda as they recover from major health issues. Not only has John coordinated the Open Mic / Jam but has performed at numerous gatherings including on the stage at the Theater in the Woods representing FMA.

” I had a colon tumor removed and now feeling much better. Sorry to miss this year’s event. I’ll be back. Linda is doing better too as she recovers from breast cancer. Surgeries and chemo are in the past! Looking forward to seeing everyone next year – miss my friends.”

Flying Musicians Association’s Irish Traditional Session/Jam – Musicians interested in listening and playing traditional Irish music in a session. Bring yourself or instruments and join us. Also welcome are those who know Irish traditional dance/ceili.
