Hi everyone!
I wanted to share that about a week ago I went on my Discovery flight. I had been thinking about doing this for over a month, and I finally sent things into motion. I had been looking forward to it– very excited, and a little nervous.
I tried to mentally prepare myself, but I found that you cannot prepare yourself for the whole experience. I was lucky enough to fly up at a time to see this sunset, it was beautiful. There’s not a real way to describe it. Up there, it feels serene, because everything going on below feels so far away and insignificant.
That day, I had been looking up at the sky every hour waiting for the overcast sky to change and for the clouds to part. I was very happy that it did happen, and my flight occurred during the only few clear hours in the day. Since then, I have found myself looking up at the sky everyday, pretending to plan when to fly.
For flying itself, I would say that it was a bit overwhelming, because there was so much going on. It was nice though to see how calm my flight instructor was, how she knew how everything worked together and all the systems in place for us to have a smooth and great time. I even had the controls for a little bit, it was exhilarating and a tad bit scary, but I knew that my flight instructor was there to guide us at any given moment’s notice.
Up next for me to is to hopefully glide through the rest of ground school.
Until next time,
Jovie
