Jacy FiskHello Everyone! Here’s a little fact about me… I’m in a metal band!!! We have a vocalist, 2 guitarists, a drummer, and a bassist… ME! Metal is one of my most favorite genres of music so being in this band is so much fun! So far we have played 6 gigs and we have our 7th one booked for March 21st. We used to play all covers but now we are beginning to combine some originals in the setlist. Our next set is looking to be about 30 mins of music, 2 Deftones covers and 5 original songs ranging from emo pop, nu metal, and hardcore slam. I am… Read More

Jacy FiskHello everyone! Recently I was selected to play in the Dodea Pacific Far East Honor Band for 2nd Trombone! The event will be held in April at Kadena High School in Okinawa, Japan. The audition materials were 2 tricky etudes(technical and lyrical) and a chromatic scale. I was nervous that many people would do well so I practiced for a while in advance. I had to send in an audition recording and I made it! I just recently received music that we will play and I wanted to share it with you all. Has anyone played/listened to these songs before? If so, how did you like them? Also, one… Read More

Small Blessings
Lacey RayGreetings from western PA! After many weeks of cold and windy winter weather interfering with my flying lessons, I have been blessed to have some sunny weather the last two weekends. The next several weeks will be very full with rehearsals as we prepare for our upcoming musical, “Back to the 80’s,” which opens March 20, but I do have a couple lessons scheduled. I’m hopeful for more good weather for those. I’ve attached a photo from my recent flying lesson, as well as a photo from our musical sitzprobe, where we had our first opportunity to rehearse with the pit band. We are excited to taking the stage… Read More

Solo and Ensemble 2025!!
Lauren Grace ComptonJust got the results from my final MMEA Solo and Ensemble performance as a high schooler…… I earned the highest rating of superior of Chaminade’s Concertino, the same piece my mom played for her final solo and ensemble performance. After 8 years and twelve total flute solo and ensemble performances, I’ve grown so much as a musician. I couldn’t have selected a better final piece, and I cannot wait to see where my flute takes me in college!

FMA at PAPA EXPO 2024
FMA life member and current board member, Louise Vickerman, performed outreach at the Professional Asian Pilots Association‘s, PAPA Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada along with member and Louise’s husband, Pete Margulies. Lots of pilots visited the FMA table to share that they too are musicians. We are looking forward to gaining a few more pilot-musicians to fill the 2025 PAPA Expo with more music. PAPA expo went great, was a fun couple of days. I met a LOT of pilots who were also musicians (including many who did a music degree before switching professions!). The PAPA people were great and really enthusiastic about having us there and for the FMA… Read More

Women In Aviation Conference with Jazz
Jocelyn BewRecently, I was able to attend the Women In Aviation International (WAI) conference held in my hometown; Orlando, FL! My WAI chapter awarded me and four other amazing women from the chapter scholarship to attend. I was super nervous leading up to the conference, but quickly got more and more comfortable as it went on. As a junior in high school, I am constantly trying to find my ideal college to major in aviation (while still being able to play in music ensembles) and I was able to meet lots of colleges that I hadn’t even considered. I met so many inspiring people, such as Nicole Battjes, the founder… Read More
