Schuyler StasonisHello FMA!
My name is Schuyler Stasonis and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to become the newest member to the Flying Musicians Association. For as long as I can remember, I have always had a love for aviation and music. I can always remember signing “Waiting On The World To Change” by John Mayer in the car at a young age and arguing with my siblings for the window seat on every plane I flew on.
The interconnection of music and aviation is beyond words to me. Music has given me the patience, adaptability, attentiveness, and overall leadership necessary to conquer my flight training. I have played Tenor Saxophone for nearly 10 years now, which feels like a total blur. On top of that, I am a Private Pilot rated for ASEL aircraft. I am currently wrapping up my final stages of Instrument training and will soon move on to conquering my Commercial Pilot Certificate. I am a student at Middle Georgia State University and have loved every second of my training.
Before my move to Georgia, I worked in the operational side of aviation at the Salt Lake City International Airport. My experience as a Ramp Agent and Aircraft Fueler have allowed me to gain enhanced experience a deeper appreciation for the aviation industry. While working, my most recent experience in music was as a member of the West Jordan Community Band in West Jordan, Utah. As a section leader for saxophones, I learned how to quickly adapt and mentor other players of varying skill levels and backgrounds alike. During that time, I also had the chance to recieve my Private Pilot License from Cornerstone Aviation marking a major milestone in my future career.
I look forward to connecting with many of you throughout this process. And as always, keep the blue side up!
