Summer so far!!
Achilles HennessyHello FMA! In the recent weeks I have had quite the eventful end of school year and beginning of summer! By the time my senior year ended, I had been awarded the Music Student of the Year award and the National Choral Award! I also conducted my own choral composition at the End of Year Concert! “I Choose to Sing” was a major hit among the students, parents, and several members of our school district music program and even the university here in Wyoming! What a banner year! Having received nearly triple the nominees of any of the previous years, the process to select finalists was a long and arduous task. Many nominees found the checklist to be important and followed it to the tee. Some decided, after reflecting, that perhaps this wasn’t something they really wanted. In any event, all nominees belong to the largest collection of passionate pilot-musicians in the world. A network beneficial for advancing their goals in aviation and music. Madison AkridgeA lot has happened in the past two months, and I thought I might fill everyone in. At the beginning of March, Seda Voca, one of the choirs I am a part of, went to Jazz Contest and received a gold rating. Our set consisted of Till There Was You by Meredith Wilson (Arranged by Kirby Shaw), Chili Con Carne by The Real Group (Music and Lyrics by Anders Edenroth), and Sing, Sing, Sing by Louis Prima (Arranged by Anita Cracauer). “Hello again everyone! After a very busy semester of flying, work, and classes, I finally have time to update everyone about my various adventures. I passed my Commercial Multi-Engine checkride on December 4! I had hoped to finish multi earlier in the semester, but my instructor left for the airlines and it took me a few weeks to get a new MEI because a lot of our previous MEIs had also left for the airlines. Sun ‘n Fun 2023
Volunteers – Sign up now! The first BIG aviation event of 2023 is fast approaching – Sun ‘n Fun – March 28 through April 2. LAMA (Light Aircraft Manufacturers Association) is glad to welcome back the Flying Musicians to the LSA Mall in Paradise City. The blue tent we had in 2021 is again being provided by the DeLand Airport. The Sound System is provided by BOSE while Honda will provide power with an Eu2200i generator. Sennheiser and SONY microphones will be available as will AirTurn mic stands. Life member Gary Filip will coordinate music and will have his Roland PF-7 keyboard available all week. Come and play!
