FMA Member Wins NBAA Gold

Writer/musician and FMA member James Wynbrandt received the National Business Aviation Association’s 2021 Gold Wing Award for Journalism Excellence for his article “Flying in the Age of COVID-19,” which appeared in Business Jet Traveler magazine. Lead by FMA Northeast ambassador and Julliard Professor Greg Knowles, pilot/musicians will once again perform at World Helicopter Day at Stewart Int’l Airport (KSWF) in New Windsor, New York hosted by Independent Helicopters. On Sunday, August 15, 2021, Independent Helicopter opens their doors to the community and students attending the BE INDEPENDENT Aviation Camp. This successful camp gives campers an inside scoop to the adventurous world of aviation in all aspects. Jacob Earns Private Pilot Certificate

Jacob Burdette, one of two 2020 FMA Solo program scholarship recipients, successfully completed the checkride at Kent State for his FAA Private Pilot certificate. “I am happy to announce that I am finally a Private Pilot! I took my oral exam on June 3rd and the flight portion on June 4th. The oral took me about two and a half to three hours total to complete, but it didn’t feel like it.
