Most years I only get to attend the weekend portion of Sun ‘n Fun, but this made it an exciting week of Aviation, Music, Sun, and Fun! It was great getting to meet other members of the Flying Musicians while combining our shared interests. The weekend before the airshow, the FMA brass rehearsed at Orlando Executive Airport (KORL), which was such a fun experience. Pictures from 2024 are posted below. The first BIG aviation event of 2024 is fast approaching – Sun ‘n Fun – April 9 – 15, 2024. The Light Aircraft Manufacturers Association (LAMA) is happy to support the Flying Musicians in the LSA Mall in Paradise City during Sun ‘n Fun. We will be under the blue Star-Tent provided by the DeLand Airport. The stage this year is provided by the Midwest LSA Expo. The Sound System provided by BOSE will be powered by Honda with an Eu2200i generator. Sennheiser and SONY microphones will be available as will AirTurn mic stands. World Helicopter Day 2023

World Helicopter Day was celebrated at Independent Helicopters, Stewart International Airport, Newburgh, NY. For the 4th year several members in the New England performed for the attendees. Member Sal Lagonia on Trumpet, Sharon Siodmak on Drums, Roger Astudillo on Bass, and Ross Pilot (FMA board member) on Guitar/Vox. Greg Knowles (Northeast ambassador) provided the audio equipment.

AirVenture 2023

(pictures at bottom ) Lots of Flying Musicians will be at AirVenture 2023. Several changes this year. Many have asked why not move the open mic/jam to Friday? Done. Same location (Forum tent in Ultralight area) at time (8-10pm). Taking its place on Thursday evening will be the start of something new coordinated be member Mike Dewey. Mike will coordinate an Irish Trad session (more below). Two notable musicians are unable to attend this year – John Vining (North Central Ambassador) and Gary Filip (Life Member).
